Doris “Dory” Sabol, 62, of Charlotte, NC, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2026.  Born June 27, 1964, in Binghamton, NY, to the late Stephen J. Sabol and Agnes A. Sabol.  Dory graduated from Central Cabarrus High School in 1982 and went on to attend Central Piedmont Community College.

A lifelong learner with a generous spirit, she later returned to CPCC not as a student but as a teacher — instructing sign language, working as an interpreter, and managing the computer lab. Her professional career also included years at IBM and Coca-Cola.

Dory’s truest passion was animals. A devoted advocate for animal rights, she opened her home and heart to countless rescues over the years, and her house was never without the warmth of the creatures she saved. She leaves behind her two beloved cats, ZenZen and Tater, who were family to her in every sense.  Those who knew Dory will remember her in the kitchen baking sourdough bread, crocheting a new project, or settled in with an old movie. She was a devout Catholic whose faith guided her life of quiet kindness.

She is survived by her beloved aunt, Dorothy P. Lamasko; her brothers, Steve, Daniel, and Dean Sabol; and her sisters, Donna, Diane, and Debbie Sabol; nieces and nephews, Derrick (Wren and Ronan), Domenic (Harper), Josh (Austin and Madison), Daniel (and his son), Jessica (Isaiah and Kaliyah), Sarah, Melissa, Cody, Cameron (Ryan, Graceyn, Maeve, Beckette), Kellen; and Dorys NODA neighbors especially those she called her family Claire her cats and family and Kevin and his dog as well all her close neighbors of 1991 and beyond.

A Memorial mass will be held on Friday July 31, 2026 at 1:30 pm at the Greater St. James  Catholic Church (139 Manor Ave. SW, Concord, NC 28025)

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any No Kill Shelters, especially those centered around Cats and Kittens.  Some suggestions, Petco cat adoption group 704-925-6015, Sea Life Concord NC, Exotic Pet Rescue Concord, NC, Carolina Fowl Rescue, FURR Cat Rescue , Waxhaw, NC, Raptor Center Charlotte, NC, Saving Southern Kitties, and Catholic supported Katherine House 704-825-9599.
