Doris Faye Bishop Denney, 90, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Preston House in Charlotte. She was born on January 31,1934 in Jay, Oklahoma to the late Benjamin Franklin Bishop and Julia May All Bishop. In 1936 Doris along with her family moved to Idaho where she attended school and graduated high school from Buhl HS in 1952. She met her husband Richard Denney in Buhl and they were married on September 15, 1955. She lived in many states including Oklahoma, Idaho, California, Texas, Nebraska, and Utah before retiring to the Knoxville, TN area.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Richard Glenn Denney, along with siblings Virginia Hamilton, Keith Bishop and Kenneth Bishop.
Doris is survived by her children, Denise (Jay) King of Mooresville, NC, DeAnn Wehtje of Chicago, IL, Darrin Denney of Terrell, TX and Danette (Murrell) Tull of Ringgold, GA. Grandchildren Sara (Joe) Evins of Huntersville, NC, Alisha (Angel) Wehtje of Streamwood, IL, Jake (Christy) King of Leander, TX, Ashley (Kevin) Wehtje of Algonquin, IL, Blair (Meghan) Wehtje of Highland Park, IL, Brady Tull of Loma Linda, CA, Casey Tull of Altamonte Springs, FL and Kayla Tull of Athens, GA. Great grandchildren Ashlyn Evins, Brinlee Evins, Sloane King, Savy King, Everett Wehtje and Thomas Wehtje.
As per the request of both Richard and Doris there will be a private family memorial with the scattering of their ashes on Lake Powell.
