Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
Edward “Ed” Jerry Clark, age 73, left this world on April 22, 2024.
He was born to the late Margarete Hagenfeld Clark and Marvin Pierce Clark in Augusta, Georgia on Auqust 20, 1950. Ed was a singer, songwriter and musician, the owner of Just Write The Music.
Family who departed before him in addition to his mother and father, were his brother, Marvin H.L. Clark; his sister, Gisela Clark Loflin and her husband, Tim; brothers in law, Shelton Shepherd and Jim Peeler; and his special friend, Mary Knapp.
Those left behind to remember his influence on their lives were his sister Margarete “Meg” Clark Peeler and her daughters, Dana Shepherd and Jennifer Shepherd and children; sister in law, Cindy Whitley Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He particularly enjoyed hearing about his great-nephews, Waylon and Lelan and their progress in sports and growing up. Ed’s closest friends, Brenda Williams and Janie Savage and her husband, Jeff Jablonski stayed close through his health journey.
It was easy to see Ed’s musical talent at an early age when he and his brother, Marvin teamed up to make music. They were kicked out of North Rowan High School band because they wouldn’t cut their “longish” hair. Ed finished his education and enlisted in the Air force. When he had served, he worked on a cruise ship as “piano man” and organized bands and played “gigs” throughout the U.S. He was a perfectionist. Ed later moved to Nashville to write heartfelt songs filled with love.
Ed’s family thanks the care team of Liberty Lane Hospice at the WG Hefner VA hospital for their excellent care given with love, kindness and respect. They are indeed “angels on earth.”
There will be a memorial service held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd. Salisbury, NC 28144 beginning at 10am.
Donations in honor of Ed can be made in his honor for a charity of the donor’s choice.
Carolina Cremation is assisting the Clark family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.
