Ernest Elbert ‘Whit’ Whitaker, 79, Charlotte, NC passed away March 13, 2017 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville. Mr. Whitaker was born September 10, 1937 in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late Laney Whitaker and Edna Croxton Whitaker. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and the South Carolina National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Jack Whitaker; and a sister, Doris Jean Whitaker Robinson.

Mr. Whitaker is survived by his Wife, Mary Ellen Hinson Whitaker; son, Eric Whitaker (Andee); Daughter, Alison Whitaker Hopkins (Calvin); and grandchildren, Ty Hopkins, Ayden Whitaker, and Kaysey Hopkins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Mulberry Baptist Church (6450 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte 28214). The family will receive friends prior to the Celebration of Life from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the church.
