Etheyl Marie Derrick, 91, of Cleveland, NC passed away on January 2, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Derrick was born on December 26, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY.
She attended school in Belleville, NJ and worked as a teller in the Banking industry. Etheyl loved reading, sewing, and crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Etheyl is survived by her son; Lawrence J. Derrick of Cleveland; two daughters, Karen Derrick of Cleveland, NC and Judith Nagy and husband Charles of New Jersey; grandchildren, Sonya Gurly and husband Miles, Christopher Nagy, Teaka Jones, Tara Jones, Cheri Ketchie and husband Matt, and Andrea Jones; great-grandchildren, Joseph Jones, Bryan Ketchie, Stacey Ketchie, David Briggs, Nathan Briggs, Hunter Kasler, Brianna Bruce, Emory Gurly, and baby boy Gurly due in May, and close friends Mark and Carol Williams.

Mom….. grandma was one of the best women I know. .. she always took the time to listen to me…even if I was juzt being silly:-) if she didnt have the time…she would make time for me… she taught me a lot about baking and crafts and usually made sure I had the materials needed to do both!! She tried to teach me how to crochet too, but to her extreme frustration.and mine!!..I could never quite figure out how to do more than a chain lol.. grandma was an awesome woman who loved me very much and wanted nothing but the best for all of us….I disappointed her some along the way, but I know that never stopped her from loving me to the fullest…. I will miss u very much, but I know your finally at rest with your loved ones in heaven….giving ol St.Peter hell;-) I love u and will see u when its my time to go to those big pearly gates in the sky…

Grandma you will be sorely missed you were like a second mother to me and there will be a hole in my heart now that you are gone. I love you and I know that GODs garden has gotten even more beautiful with you as one of his new flowers! Love Always and Forever
