Florence Medlin King, 88, of Lexington, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. She was born on November 2, 1927 in Halifax County to the late Jessie Medlin and Bertie Whitfield Barnes.
Florence retired from PPG Industries where she worked as a computer technician and was a member of Becks Reformed Church in Lexington. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and working in her flower garden. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Grady King Jr., and a brother, Jessie Medlin Jr.
Florence is survived by her three daughters, Patsy McPherson of Lexington, Jerrie (Eddie) Swing of Lexington, and Doris (Al) Goodpasture of Murrells Inlet, SC; a son, Charles (Barbara) King of Lexington; six grandchildren, Shane McPherson, Misty Delbridge, Megan Carlson, Morgan Swing, Amber Walker, and Emily Betbeze; and eight great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday May 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Beck’s Reformed Church (2845 Beck’s Church Rd., Lexington, NC) conducted by pastor Steve Regan. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County (200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292).
The family will have a private burial at a later date.
