Floyd Franklin Grant Jr., 80, died Dec. 1, 2011, in Gastonia, N.C., surrounded by his family.
Frank was a loving, fun-spirited man and would often do the unexpected for a laugh or a smile. Born in Portland, Maine, to Floyd Franklin Grant Sr. of New Hampshire and Maybel McCausland, he was a 1950 graduate of Portland High School and received an associate’s degree in business administration from Nichols Junior College. He honorably served with the 96th Bomber Wing at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. He was the owner of Frank’s Four Son’s Vinyl Repair and was a professional photographer for many years with Graham Studios in Bowling Green.
As a member of Fountain Square Free Methodist Church in Bowling Green, he enjoyed serving on the worship team and playing his trumpet. Frank will be missed dearly by his family and friends and is survived by four sons, Gregory Grant and his wife, Suzanne, Ricky Grant and his wife, Melissa, Johnny Grant and his wife, Lesa, and Michael Grant and his wife, Katherine. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Aaron, Elizabeth, Jacob, Foster, Caleb, Seth, Madison, Megan and Nicole. Also, he is survived by his twin sister, Peggy Ann Dryer, who currently resides in Grand Le Blanc, Mich.
A memorial service will be scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Parkwood Baptist Church in Gastonia, N.C.
