Floyd Robert (Bob) Waitt, 80, passed through the glimmering gates of Heaven on April 13, 2016 at the Tucker Hospice House in Cabarrus County, from complications due to cancer; he was surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Waitt was born on June 10, 1935 in Keansburg, New Jersey to the late Floyd Waitt and Rita McDonald Waitt Berger.
Bob was a long time member of Concord First Assembly Church (CFA) and worked for Unilever for 33 years as a District Sales Manager for Thomas’ English Muffins. Bob enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, the late Bonnie Belle Sweetman Waitt to whom he was married for 57 years, his children, grandchildren, and his family and friends. Retirement never slowed him down as he merely refocused his time by serving in his community by volunteering with Meals-on-Wheels, working for the Census Bureau, and driving a van for the senior citizens with CFA, just to name a few.
Bob’s paramount priority was a being a loving husband and later caregiver for his sweet Bonnie Belle, as well as a father, and a grandfather, and friend. The light of Christ shone bright in Bob’s open and loving personality and his warm smile. Bob never met a stranger, and anyone who knew or met him will remember his kind and giving spirit. He will indeed be missed!
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Belle Sweetman Waitt. He is survived by his three children; Belinda Waitt Locke, Kevin Waitt & wife Tanja, and Warren Waitt & wife Maureen; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister, stepsister, step brother, many cousins, and other extended family, and friends who love him.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Saturday April 16 at Concord First Assembly Village Suite 15; with receiving of family and friends at 1pm and service immediately following at 2:45.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County (5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081).
