Franklin Theodore Wright, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and hardworking member of his community, Franklin leaves behind a legacy of dedication, strength, and kindness.
He shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Diana Wright, who stood by his side through life’s many chapters. He was a proud father to his children: Melinda Epling (Carlin Epling) of Salisbury, NC, Brad Wright (Kristen Wright) of Salisbury, MD, Jonathan Wright of Baltimore, MD, Alana Wright of Linwood, NC, and Noah Wright of Linwood, NC, all of whom carry forward his values and spirit.
Franklin was a cherished grandfather to Carly Epling, Maddy Epling, Ella Epling, Evan Wright, and Nolan Wright, who brought him immense joy.
He is also survived by his brothers, John Wright (Mina Wright) of Seaford, DE and Wayne Wright of Elyria, OH. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Wright and John “Tex” Wright.
Franklin dedicated many years of his career to public service, retiring from Brockbridge Correctional Institute in Jessup, MD. Even after retirement, his strong work ethic led him to continue serving his community through his work with Granite Quarry, NC Public Works.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling (especially cruising), and spending time with his family—moments that brought him great joy and lasting memories. He was also a devoted Baltimore Ravens fan and rarely missed a chance to cheer on his team.
He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his resilience, and the quiet strength he showed in everything he did. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In accordance with his wishes, no formal service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to his favorite place of work:

Love and hugs to Diane, Alana, Noah and the rest of the family. Frank was a longtime friend. I admired his love for children. He will be missed.

Wow! Let me start by sending my heart felt condolences to his family. Diana and Frank shared their love of life together and loved their kids more than anything.
Frank was the most stand up guy I had the pleasure of working with in the Div. of Corrections. He always had my back, even if I was wrong. Frank and Diana could have taken it easy later in life but chose to welcome Alana and Noah to the family. Frank showed them what love was.
Dana and I will miss the little bit of time we had to spend with them. May God bring comfort to Frank’s entire family!
Donna Lee says
I am so very sorry and heartbroken for you, Aunt Diane, your children and grandchildren plus Uncle John and Uncle Wayne. In just two short years four siblings have now left this earth to be reunited with their mother.
We loved when you both came to Grandmom Taylor’s as kids and later visits in our teens when Melinda, Brad and Jonathon were little. I haven’t seen you all in years but you’ve always had a special place in the heart. Everyone loved how you & Uncle Frank were so in love, kind to everyone, wonderful parents and down to earth. May your special memories help you through the hardest days and comfort you knowing how much Uncle Frank loved you and
May God bless you each with an abundance of strength and comfort to get thru these tough times ahead of each of you and peace that he is with our Heavenly Father.
All My Love, Donna

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, whose dedication and service to the Town of Granite Quarry left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His commitment, integrity, and genuine care for this community made him truly irreplaceable. Through his years of service, he helped shape not only the work we do, but the spirit in which we do it.
He will be profoundly missed, both as a valued co-worker and as a friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing how greatly he was respected, appreciated, and loved.
