Gary Pearl “Pinkey” Trexler passed away on Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at his home in Salisbury.
Pinkey was born in Salisbury, NC on September 18, 1947 to Mr. James Pinkney Trexler and Mable Hutchinson Trexler. Pinkey attended North Rowan High School, and entered the US Army at just 17 years old, where he would serve for 3 years in the 7th Calvary Regiment. Upon return from the Army, he worked at Republic Foil and also worked for many years serving local veterans at the VFW.
Pinkey had a love for horses, and owned many throughout his life, being known by many friends and family as “Cowboy.” He also loved Nascar, and never missed a Sunday race-day. He cared very much for his daughters, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a friend to everyone he met.
Pinkey is proceeded in death by one daughter, Reesa Dawn Trexler, one brother, James Edward Trexler, and parents, James and Mable Trexler.
Survivors include daughter, Jodie Trexler Laird, sister, Deana L. Trexler, brother, Rick Trexler (Joy), two grandsons, Jesse McDaniel (Carolann) and Tyler Laird (Pearl), one granddaughter, Danielle Laird Fagan (Jacob) and 3 great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service held at 1pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd. Salisbury, NC 28144.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the VA.
