Gary Wayne Archie, 83, of Mooresville, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026 at his home, after a brief illness.

Gary, the youngest of nine children, was born July 12, 1943, in Iredell County to the late James Edward Archie and Ollie Mae Blackwelder Archie.

Gary graduated from Mooresville Senior High in 1961. After graduation he worked at Mooresville Iron Works. He later got his CDL and Hazmat license and worked for Iredell Milk Transportation for many years and he retired from Reeves Bros/Foamex in the transportation department. He also worked for Mooresville ABC board after retiring.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers Lewis, Tilden, Bill and Pete Archie; and sisters, Elva Bass, Margaret Ratledge and Fayneill Ratledge.

He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Nancy Goodman Archie, his children, Lyn Johnson (Lou), Rená Turman (Jeff) and Edward (Eddie) Archie; sister, Peggy Brookshire. He is also survived by five grandchildren; four great-greatchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
