Hubert “Dean” Ovadean Lunsford Sr., 71, of Mooresville, passed away on Saturday January 09, 2016 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury. Dean was born on June 23, 1944 in Wilkes County, NC to the late Hubert Lunsford and Edith Johnson Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Dean worked as a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. He was a conservative and loved to talk about politics, trucking, and anything Sci-Fi. Dean loved to read Tom Clancy novels and spend time with his family. He loved to watch NFL games and was a huge Carolina Panthers fan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lunsford who passed away in 2002.
He is survived by a daughter, Tracy Lunsford of Mooresville; a son, Hubert Dean Lunsford Jr. and wife Amanda of Statesville; two brothers, Gurney Lunsford and wife Brenda of Kernersville, and Raven Lunsford and wife Paula of Statesville; four sisters, Diane Harris of Harmony, Kathy Campbell of Harmony, Brenda Moose and husband David of Harmony, and Chris Harris and husband Randy of Harmony; and two grandchildren, Kyndall Lunsford-Short, and Heather Gatton.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made a Veterans Organization of the donor’s choice.
