Jack Lee Jacobs, 85, of Salisbury passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. Mr. Jacobs was born April 19, 1930 in Rowan County to the late William L. Jacobs and Myrtle Click Jacobs. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Jack was a member of Lyerly Evangelical Church and was a salesman in the food service industry. He was a published author of multiple southern history books, was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and he enjoyed all things history. Jack enjoyed working in his garden, watching ALF on TV, fishing, going to the YMCA, and attending all of his grandchildrens’ activities. Jack was also a life long member of VFW post 3006.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, George Grady “Pap” Jacobs, Bill Jacobs, and Lewis “Luke” Jacobs; and a sister, Inez Cranford.
He is survived by three sons, Mark V. Jacobs and wife Cherlyn of Rockwell, Kevan Jacobs and wife Donna of Salisbury, and Jonathan N. Jacobs and wife Heather of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Samantha, Chloe, Garrett, and Michael Austin Jr. and wife Tiffany; and three great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday April 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Lyerly Evangelical Church (1320 Crescent Rd., Rockwell, NC 28138) conducted by Pastor Junior Gaither. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the church prior to the service.
Military Honors will be provided by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lyerly Evangelical Church (1320 Crescent Rd., Rockwell, NC 28138).
