James aka Tony Anthony Woodard, 71, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026 surrounded by his family.
He was born January 14, 1955 in Charlotte, NC to James Woodard and Ruth Moore Berkebile. James worked as a Chemical Engineer for Hoechst Celanese and Bartender at Our Place Bar and Grill
He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by the Mother of his children, Sandra Schaffer Woodard
James is survived by his daughter, Lauren Amanda Woodard of Charlotte , NC; daughter, Kristin A Chickoree; granddaughter, Layla Jean Brunner; sister, Frances Marie Osborne.
Celebration of Life for Tony Woodard will be held on April 11th, 2026 from 2–5pm at the American Legion, 5661 Hovis Rd, Charlotte NC.
Memorials may be made to American Kidney Foundation.

Tony was a true friend, he will truly be missed by many. Who will we call when we have a jepordy question in the late hours of the night? Lol. My heart goes out to Lauren,Layla and Frances and all his family and friends who loved him dearly.

Tony was a a Jeopardy Wizard. And had a great know of music. If you wanted to know who sung what….call Tony. He also was a true UNC Tar Heel fan. He will be missed by many. But several friends wait for him on the other side to welcome him. Prayers lifted for his family and friends.
