James Daniel “J.D.” Poplin, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Concord, NC, formally from Albemarle, on Sunday, February 5, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 15, 1926 in Albemarle to the late Daniel Webster Poplin and Anna Hooks Poplin.
He was a licensed general contractor and completed many projects during his working years. He was a strong figure in the lives of all his family and friends. He loved growing his “maters” in the summer, and was an Civil War buff.
James is survived by his daughter, Janet Irene Poplin of Albemarle, and son, William H. (Billy) and wife Toleah M. of Concord, and a sister, Margaret Dick of Albemarle.
J.D. Also had the enjoyment of 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Eudy McKnight, Karman Eudy Christenson, Benjamin James Poplin, and Jessica Poplin Palmer and their spouses. This little tribe also grew with the addition of 8 great grand children.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Thursday Feb. 9, 2017 at Centerview Baptist Church in Albemarle. Family will receive friends in the church sanctuary at 1:00 PM with memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County or any Hospice of their choosing.
