James “Howard” Nance Jr., 71, of Churchland, NC passed away on Thursday October 9, 2014 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House surrounded by his family. Mr. Nance was born on January 28, 1943 in Davidson County to the late James Howard Nance Sr. and Evelyn Goodnight Nance.
Howard was a 1962 Graduate of West Davidson High School and worked in the Maintenance Department at NC Finishing. He loved to go hunting and fishing and was a member of the Morgan Hunt Club as well as the Spencer Moose Lodge.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela “Pam” Nance of Salisbury a son, Marvin Nance and wife, Misti of Churchland; a brother, Lenn Dale Nance of Lexington; four grandchildren, Marshall Nance and wife, Stacey of Clover, SC, Matthew Nance and wife, Carrie of Charlotte, Justin Nance and wife, Bethany of Churchland, and Mekaela Nance of Winston-Salem; one great grandchild, Aiden; as well as the mother of his children and caregiver, Saundra Nance.
There will be a visitation on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith Grove Baptist Church, 3462 Sowers Road Linwood NC 27299.
Memorials in honor of Howard may be made to Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care 720 Grove Street Salisbury NC 28144.
