James Thomas Elliott, 64, of Winnabow, passed away on Saturday May 28, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Elliott was born on June 21, 1951 in Boone, NC to the late Raymond Vaughn Elliott and Gwendolyn Gentry Elliott. He resided in West Jefferson NC most of his life. James proudly served his country in the United States Army.
James was of the Baptist faith and was the owner and operator of his own Plumbing and Heating and Air business. He enjoyed both cooking and eating good food. James was a true craftsman who could build anything and enjoyed doing anything that involved
being outdoors. Canoeing, singing, listening to music, target shooting, and collecting model airplanes were some of his favorite hobbies. James loved his family and he enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by a son, Shane Elliott and wife Kelly Elliott of Jefferson, NC; a daughter, Kristy Benfield and husband Danny Benfield of Winnabow, NC; a sister, Diane Elliott Parsons and husband Frank Parsons of West Jefferson; Mother Gwendolyn Elliott of West Jefferson; five grandchildren, Sierra Roland, Katie Elliott, Xander Benfield, and Drayden Benfield; and a step-granddaughter, Evelyn Darnell.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday June 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Salisbury National Cemetery (501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28145). Military Honors will be provided by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard.
