Jane Hubbard Morton embarked on a new journey on Good Friday, April 6, three days before her 82nd birthday.

She was born in Salisbury, NC on April 9, 1930 to the late Esta and Henry Hubbard. She graduated from Boyden High School in 1948 and took a job with the phone company, where she worked until 1962 when she quit to take on the responsibilities of a full-time homemaker and mother. She returned to school in 1981 and earned a nursing degree from Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She then retired in 1994 from Wateree River Correctional Institute in Rembert, SC where she was on staff as an RN.

Those of us who knew her were blessed to have had her in our lives. She was able to see the goodness in everything and everybody. She was kind, caring and untiringly committed to helping others.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Payton, of Granite Quarry, sister Ruth Young of Salisbury, sister Sarah Fairey and husband Bob of Durham, brother Joel Hubbard and wife Jayne of Salisbury, three grandsons, Caleb Payton of Granite Quarry and Sam and Eli Payton, both of Sacramento, CA and 14 nieces and nephews. There will be no services.
