Janice Marie Carter Cox, 80, of Misenheimer, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at her home.
She was born October 4, 1937 in Gold Hill, NC to John Carter and Lucy Frick Carter. She is a 1956 graduate of Rockwell High School and graduated with an Associates Degree from Montgomery Community College. Janice worked as a beautician, cook, then in textiles and pottery. She enjoyed baking, singing, playing with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren and she was always laughing. Janice was a member of Prospect Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school, as long as her health permitted.
Janice is survived by her husband 61 years, Ralph “RB” Cox, whom she married February 3rd, 1957; daughter, Roxanne Morgan (Rick) of Misenheimer; granddaughters, Bethany Bowers (Dustin) of Richfield, NC and Chelsea Osterloh (Andrew) of Misenheimer, NC; 5 great grandchildren, Madelyn, Morgan Bowers and baby Mabrie due in April; Lexi, Drew, and Spencer Osterloh and baby Osterloh due in July; sister-in-law, Sara Cox of Albermarle, NC; step-sisters, Betty Lou Childers (Wayne) and Delah Hinson both of Surfside Beach, SC; nephew, Travis Carter of Washington, NC; niece, Phoebe Carter O’toole of Clover, SC.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Carter and his wife Kay.
There will be a memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Prospect Baptist Church, 502 Prospect Church Rd, Albemarle, NC 28001, conducted by Pastor Stoney Benfield and Pastor Ray Johnson. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street Albemarle, NC 28001.
