Mr. Jimmy Ray Finley, 65, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. He was born November 15, 1949, in Anawalt, WV, a son of the late Marvin and Ruby Fleenor Finley.
Mr. Finley was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He retired as District Manager for BFI, later known as Allied Waste. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but most especially loved the time spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Penninger.
Mr. Finley is survived by his children, Sherry Smith and husband, James of Rockwell, and Brian E. Finley of Concord; four grandchildren, Rodney Smith, Samantha Smith, Alana Finley, and Adalyn Finley; his first wife, Sharon Finley Chester; brothers, Bill Finley and Bud Finley; and sisters, Becki Finley, Tammy Martin, Frances Stevenson, and Esther George.
There will be a memorial service held Sunday, February 15 at 4:00 PM at First Free Will Baptist Church, 405 North Bostian Street, China Grove, NC 28023, conducted by Rev. Mark Murphy.
The family will hold a visitation prior to the memorial service on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the church.
