John Lenwood Virden, 69, of Greensboro, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the W.G. Bill Hefner Hospice House in Salisbury, NC. He was born December 2, 1948 in Greensboro, NC to the late Lenwood Virden and Doris Anderson Virden. John proudly served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division and served during Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne Division.
John was the owner and operator of his own painting business and he enjoyed going fishing on the lake and playing poker when he had time. He loved to sit on his front porch and watch everyone pass by going into town.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandmother, Thelma Gibson Anderson.
John is survived by two brothers, Ira Virden and wife Janice of Greensboro, and James Craig Virden and wife Malinda of Pleasant Garden; a sister, Elaine Virden Gentry and husband Roger of Madison, NC; numerous nieces and nephews, and two sisters.
