John Wayne Kent, 85, of Salisbury passed away Sunday, September 12th, 2021 at Carolina Caring Hospice House.
Born in Thomaston, GA on June 20th, 1936, he was the son of the late Earlin Leon Kent, Sr. and the late Annie Lou Bishop Kent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earlin Leon Kent, Jr.
From the late 1960’s through the mid 1980’s he managed the Prince of Pizza restaurant in Kannapolis and additionally assisted his brother Max with several other restaurants over the years. He had a love for food and passion for cooking and was known for his hospitality, sense of humor and squash casserole. He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. In recent years, his favorite pastime was having breakfast with his group of friends.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy Thompson Kent of Salisbury; sons, Spencer Kent of Atlanta, Tom Yountz of Salisbury, and Tyler Kent of Salisbury; daughters, Carol Gaddy (Robby) of Lumberton and Teesha Cole (John) of Salisbury; brother, Max Kent of Salisbury; sisters, Yvonne Hamby of Stockbridge, GA and Sue Wright of Zebulon, GA; grandchildren, Jacob Kent of Atlanta, Kendall Gaddy of Lumberton and Isabella Alvarez of Salisbury; great-grandson, Kayson Gaddy of Lumberton.
There will be a memorial service held at 1:00pm, Saturday, September 18th, 2021 at NorthGate Church, 1255 West Ridge Road, Salisbury, NC 28147, with Pastor Ken Koontz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NorthGate Church, 1255 West Ridge Road, Salisbury, NC 28147.

John Kent gave me the first real job I ever had. I was in high school at Brown. John employed lots of high school getting their first crack at real work. He was always helpful and understanding.
