Joshua Lyle Wilcox, 29, of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Universal Health Care in Concord, NC. Josh was born on September 29, 1985 in Shelbyville Indiana to Sheila Knapp Wilcox Helms and the late William Warren Wilcox.
Josh always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing pranks on his friends and family. He loved to watch comedian Jeff Dunham and cooking shows and would cook new recipes for his family. Josh loved to eat new foods but his favorite food was cheese. He enjoyed sports and watching Nascar and could always be found with his friends and family.
In addition to his dad, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Imogene Knapp.
He is survived by his mother, Sheila Helms and husband Eric of Salisbury; two sisters, Brianna Marie Wilcox of Salisbury, and Cheyenne Lynn Wilcox; a brother, Dustin Kyle Wilcox of Indiana; grandparents, Robert Wilcox and wife Marcia of Wyoming, and June Evans of Wyoming; seven uncles, Paul Wilcox of Texas, Lanny Knapp, Alan Knapp, Pee-Wee Knapp, Jay Knapp, Marty Knapp, and Troy Knapp all of Indiana; an aunt, Karen Shera of Indiana, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel in Rockwell, NC (913 West Main St., Rockwell, NC 28138) conducted by Rev. John Sichting
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O.Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123) www.cancer.org, or to the American Red Cross (P.O.Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340) www.redcross.org.

I remember the years when all of you were at New Hope, and how so many times we prayed for Josh. Your family has gone through so much, and I just want you to know we still think of you as a “New Hopian” and will pray for you. I pray for comfort and peace for the whole family and extend my deepest sympathies.
Josh is in the arms of Jesus and has seen the smile on his Savior’s face.
