Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Joyce Louise Sloop Solomon, 79, of Kannapolis, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center from complications from Covid. Her cherished family was by her side.

She was born March 24, 1943 in Wilmington, NC to the late Duard Council Sloop and Hazel Lorene Freeze Sloop.  She graduated from Landis High School, class of ’61, where she was a Letter girl. Joyce primarily worked as a homemaker but through her life she did many different things but her favorite was working in a nursing home as a craft instructor. She truly loved the interaction with the patients and they loved her. She was a very talented artist and in her spare time she enjoyed spending time making her own art & crafts which she sold or gave to others to enjoy. By far her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family. She was an enthusiastic lover of word games and puzzles and you could often find her reading fantasy and science fiction novels with her beloved dogs curled up by her side.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her younger sister, Cathy Sloop and her Grandson Issak Wray Solomon who both passed away as infants.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, 7 months, Arnold Ray Solomon, whom she married on June 1st, 1963. She spent all of her years residing in the Kannapolis area where she raised three sons. She is also survived by her eldest son Eric Kirk Solomon, wife Candace Solomon of Banner Elk, NC, her middle son, Brad Alan Solomon, wife Julia Solomon of Myrtle Beach, SC and her youngest son Greg Wray Solomon of Kannapolis, NC. She is also survived by her younger brother, Duard Craig Sloop and his wife Sandra Sloop of Landis, NC, her niece April, her nephews Geoffrey, Jacob and Andrew Sloop all living in various areas. Additionally, she is survived by her five grandchildren, Devon Solomon, Matthew Solomon of Salisbury, NC, Michael Solomon of Pineville, NC, Kane Solomon and Ash Solomon, both of Landis, NC.

Our sweet Joyce will be missed, but not forgotten by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends on Sunday May 1, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, NC.  A Celebration of Life will be held following the visitation at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
