Julia “Judy” Miller Drye, 85, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Woodhaven Court, Albemarle.
She was born on October 9, 1939, in Rowan County to the late Eugene E. Miller and Julia Rebecca Aaron Miller. She graduated from George Washington High School, Alexandria, Virginia in 1958 and attended Salisbury Business College for two years.
Judy worked in the cafeteria for the Rowan Salisbury Schools system when her children were young. Later Judy worked in the Respiratory Therapy Department at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, as a secretary for 22 years until she retired.
Judy was an active member of Milford Hills United Methodist Church. Judy loved spending time with her family more than anything and going to the beach.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Benny Lee Miller.
Judy is survived by her husband, Ben Larry Drye, Salisbury, of 62 years, son, Scott (Melissa) Drye of Salisbury, and daughter, Staci (Mike) Whitford of Georgia; grandchildren, Kaitlin and McKenzie Drye, Tyler, Austin, Cody Whitford, brother Bobby Miller, High Point and several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 10:00 am – 10:45 am at Milford Hills United Methodist Church, 1630 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the church, with Pastor Jim Parsons, and retired Pastor Steve Combs officiating.
Following the service Judy will be entombed at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum, 4125 Franklin Comm Center Rd., Salisbury, NC 28144, with a private family service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care, 960 N. 1st St., Albemarle, NC 28001 or Milford Hills United Methodist Church, 1630 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
