Karan Whiteside Heglar 62, of Mooresville passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at The Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Karan was born on April 11, 1952 in Charlotte, NC, daughter of Tommy and Frances Whiteside.
Karan was a 1970 graduate of North Mecklenburg High School. She retired from the Rowan Salisbury School System after 28 years of service. Karan was a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. She loved taking care of her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Karan is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Allen Heglar, Sr. of Mooresville; son, William Allen Heglar, Jr. and wife Wendi of Faith; daughter, Lindsay Heglar Hopkins and husband Oscar of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Ragan, Riley, Luke and Kila; and a sister, Cindy Coggins and husband Mitchell of Denver.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Eastwood Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Steve Sexton.

Karan and I laughed our way through 12th grade at North Mecklenburg High. She was a great friend and I loved her! May her family find comfort knowing she is in Heaven and that they will be with her again one day.
