Karen Merritt, 66, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.

She was born October 4, 1958 in Cabarrus County, NC to the late Lloyd Russell and Betty Woodard Russell. Karen worked as a CNA, and in her spare time enjoyed visiting the beach. She played softball in her younger days. Karen’s greatest joy were her grandsons, whom she loved more than life, and her dog, Maggie.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by niece, Sonya Oddie Drew; and great-nephew, Harlon Drew.

Karen is survived by daughter, Amanda Truman (Josh) of Salisbury, NC; siblings, Ricky Russell; Vickie Russell (Ricky); Donna Peeler (Mike); Terri Oddie; grandsons, Ryan and Mason Truman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service held at 2pm on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at Gospel Lighthouse Church, 453 Concordia Church Rd, China Grove, NC 28023, with Pastor Jerry Shinn and Pastor Leroy Blankenship officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Lighthouse Church.
