Katherine Cress Goodman, 91, of Salisbury passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Genesis Healthcare after an extended illness. Katherine was born on June 3, 1922 in Salisbury, daughter of the late Kirby Lee and Thetis White Cress.
Katherine was a graduate of Boyden High School and Salem College where she earned a degree in music. Katherine was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she served on numerous committees. She served as President of the the United Church Women at St. John’s, she was a Sunday School Teacher and served on the Church Council. Her needlepoint continues to be used on the kneelers in the church chapel.
Katherine was on the Board of Directors at White Packing Company, she was an original member of LeJeudi Book Club, and was a member of several bridge clubs.
Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, L.G. Goodman, Jr.
Survivors: Katherine is survived by her sons, Linus Giles Goodman, III and wife Anne of Salisbury, and Gregory Lee Goodman and wife Elizabeth of Rock Hill, SC. Grandchildren, Linus Goodman, IV of Woodleaf and Katherine Goodman of Charlotte. Great Grandchildren, Linus Goodman V of Concord and Lillian Goodman of Concord. Sister-In-Law, Nancy Bowden of Salisbury.
Services: There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sanctuary, conducted by Dr. Rhodes Woolly and Dr. David Nelson.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday following the service.
