Kenneth Gordon, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 in Charlotte, NC after a long illness.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Kenneth was born in Detroit, MI, on April 10, 1945, to Josephine and Louis Gordon. When he was a small boy, the family moved to Pocola, OK, where he grew up and graduated high school. After graduation, Kenneth, one of the best basketball and baseball players in the school’s history, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and the following year married his forever love, Shirley M. Gordon (nee McCullough), to whom he was married for 57 years, until she went to be with the Lord in 2021.
As the Bible promised in 1 Corinthians 7:14-16, Shirley sanctified Kenneth early in their marriage, which led Kenneth to a life of ministry. After serving in the military for 20 years, then serving as a civil servant for 25 years, Kenneth retired from service to Uncle Sam. However, he never retired from God’s service, rather spent a lifetime on spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He loved the Oklahoma Sooners football team, Black Walnut Ice Cream, and all kinds of music. But more than any of those things, he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Sir, a moniker given to him by his eldest granddaughter, spent a lifetime being a Protector, Provider, and Priest to his family. From his union to his beloved Shirley, came Von, Kenneth Jr., and Gaylene. From his children came Valeree, VeNeis, Kenneth III, and Cidnee. From his grandchildren came Khaliyah, Kairo, and Lexington.
Sir is survived by his three children – Von, Kenneth Jr (and wife Leslie), and Gaylene; four grandchildren – Valeree, VeNeis, Kenneth III, and Cidnee; three great grandchildren (Khaliyah, Kairo, and Lexington); two brothers Wade and Paul, one Sister Caresse (and husband Henry), and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Sir’s family thanks the care team at Charter Sr. Living for their excellent care given with love, kindness, and respect. They were truly the angels that ushered our beloved patriarch to Heaven’s Gates.

Words can not express the loss felt, nor the Love shared. We will forever be grateful for the time spend with Uncle Kenny & Aunt Shirley. And according to the Bible there is celebration going on when GOD’S Children come home, and we know also it is on the other side of the veil.
Love Norma Jean & Family
