Kent Lee Houghton, 71, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Novant Glenn A Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 20, 1955 in Iredell County to the late Henry and Ovaleen Houghton. Kent worked for 29 years at Hoechst Celanese/KOSA where he had many friends. He also worked as a truck driver and medical transport driver. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Salisbury where he loved serving with the Access Ministry. He loved coaching track and cross-country for West Rowan High School.
Kent is survived by his wife Kathleen Houghton; son, Joshua Houghton (Stephanie); three daughters, Callie Houghton Miller (Brandon), Sydney Houghton and Onnah Houghton (George); grandchildren, Maddox, Paisley, Emma, Kenley, Hudson, Jack, Weston, and Sadie; and brothers, Steve Houghton and Billy Houghton.
Celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Salisbury on Monday, March 16, 2026. The service will start at 2:00pm, with the visitation held from 12:30-1:30pm. The family requests attendees who would like to honor Kent’s legacy, to join them in donning their running shoes for the service.

My family loved to talk to Kent. We’d sit alot of time next to him at the carson football games. As well as talk with him at the Ratlers games. He loved his family. Always spoke so highly of Josh and his family. He will be missed. My family will be praying for each of the family members.
