Larry Clyde Phillips of Salisbury, 74, passed away November 21, 2015 in his home. Born in Wilkes County, NC, he was the son of the late William Clyde Phillips and Ruby Cleo Hemric Phillips of Hickory, NC.
Educated in Hickory, he attended Lenoir Rhyne College and graduated from Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. He was a Creative Director throughout his career in Advertising Agencies in North Carolina and Virginia. He was a very talented artist winning many national and international awards. He was also an avid sailor and talented craftsman.
Larry’s brother Ken Phillips preceded him in death.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Alice Weant; son, Todd Phillips (Michelle), granddaughter Skylar, grandson Vitalik of Charlotte; son, Sean Phillips of Salisbury; and son Ross Phillips of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Sister Charlotte Davis (Gary) of San Antonio, TX; niece Rebecca (Kevin) and grandchildren Finn and Harper of Keene, NH; nephew Lee Davis of Cleveland, OH. Brother-in-law Ernest Weant of Salisbury.
Service and visitation will be held at St John’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury on Wednesday December 2nd. Visitation will be at 1:00pm in Peeler Hall, and service at 2:00pm in the Sanctuary with Pastor Rhodes Wooley and Pastor David Nelson. Burial will take place in the church Columbarium.
