Larry Raymond Hughes Sr., 83, of Salisbury, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born on March 6, 1942 in Davidson County, NC to the late Raymond Hughes and Mildred Smith Hughes.

Larry worked as a Cross Country Truck Driver and he enjoyed watching old western movies, fishing and eating with the seniors at Shilo Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Stamey Hughes .

Larry is survived by three daughters, Annette Pruitte and husband, Richard Pruitte of Salisbury; Renee Andrews of Thomasville; and Christina J. Miller and husband, Rex Miller of Baytown, TX; son, Larry Hughes, Jr. and wife, Lorelei Simmons Hughes of Kernersville, NC; 6 grandchildren, Chase Lawson, Brandon Christian, Cody Miller, Anna Miller, Dakota Freeman and Dylan Freeman; step-granddaughter, Alisha Pruitte O’Brien; 5 great-grandchildren, Kadin, Sawyer and Ainsley Lawson, Olivia and Elizabeth Christian; and siblings, Carolyn Jones and Tony Hughes both of Denton, NC.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am on December 27, 2025 at Friendship Baptist Church, 100 Porter Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146.
