Laura Jean Etchell Ahrens, 74, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center in Huntersville, NC.
She was born May 20, 1946 in Bedford, OH to the late Howard and Jean Znidarsic Etchell. Laura was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved birds, gardening and all things involving nature. She was an expert at trivia and loved to play games involving knowledge, puzzle solving and strategy. Laura was a devoted family member and friend to many and will be missed by all who knew her kind heart and empathy for others. She was a master at crocheting and loved creating crafts and gifts for others to cherish.
Those who knew her well will always remember her sincere and devoted love for her family.
Laura is survived by her husband, Jerry Ahrens; daughters, Betsy Harris and Kate Maddox; son, Larry Ahrens; granddaughters, Emma Settle, Brooke Maddox, Chloe Maddox and Harper Harris; grandson, Dylan Ahrens; and brother, Howard Etchell.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 11:00 am at the family’s home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Arthritis Foundation www.arthritis.org.

Very sad for your loss. Got to see her when she was living in Aurora, Ohio, when I moved to Aurora.
