Lewis Gordon (“Bud”) Miller, Jr. of Albemarle passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle. He was born August 23, 1918 in New York, New York, to Lewis Gordon Miller and Dorothy Brill Miller. He attended preparatory school at and graduated from the Wooster School in Danbury, Connecticut, and received an ABA degree from Nichols College, Dudley, Massachusetts in 1940. He was the Comptroller at the Naval Air Propulsion Center in Trenton, New Jersey from where he retired.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, L. Gordon Miller III, a son, Lee S. Hudgins, and his brother, Robert T. Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Black Miller, his son, C. Reid Hudgins III, and his wife, Deborah B. Hudgins, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, their daughters, Brooke H. (Michael W.) Lawson, of Pearl River, New York, and Amy W. (Thomas W.) Junker, of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, and their children. He is also survived by his sister Beth M. Cowley.
Bud and Nancy moved from New Jersey to Albemarle in the mid-1980s and summered on Nantucket for many years. Both were members of the Nantucket Yacht Club and the Wharf Rat Club. They were active members for many years in the Albemarle Cotillion Club. Bud was also active in the Romeos for many years.
A family memorial service will be scheduled at a future date. Nancy and her family will receive friends at her home on Thursday, March 3rd, between 3:00-5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
