Marjorie Elizabeth Sherrill Sigmon 86, of Concord passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Morningside Assisted Living of Concord. Marjorie was born on May 6, 1927 in Troutman, a daughter of the late Gaither G. and Lena Stilwell Sherrill.
Marjorie was a graduate of Troutman High School and Roanoke Business College in Roanoke, VA. She and her late husband, Arthur Sigmon were co-owners and operated the family business, Sherrill Machinery, Co. Marjorie was a lifelong member of Troutman First United Methodist Church where she delivered Meals on Wheels, and participated in Sunday school and church circles. Marjorie served her community by sitting on Iredell County Board of Social Services and the Troutman Planning Board. Marjorie enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends and often walked at Signal Hill Mall.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Sigmon; and her sister, Lucille Sherrill Bolton.
Survivors: Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janet Elizabeth Sigmon and husband Alexander Peter Voortmans of Charlotte, and Ginger Sigmon Fox of Salisbury. Grandchildren, Elizabeth McKenna Fox of Salisbury and Dylan Stephen Fox of Charlotte; a niece, Mary Lou Bolton and two nephews, Donnie and Dean Bolton, and great nieces, nephew and cousins.
Service: There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday March 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Troutman United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Mike Carr.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Troutman United Methodist Church, PO Box 717 Troutman, NC 28166 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive Charlotte, NC 28215.
