Saturday, April 18, 2020, Martha (Marty) Ellen Phillips, loving mother, grand-mother, and great-grandmother passed away at her granddaughter’s home in China Grove, NC. Martha was born on October 9, 1934 in Goshen, IN. She lived most of her life in Goshen but had spent the last 20 years in North Carolina with her sons and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Percy (Bud) Phillips, son Carl Douglas Phillips, parents Carl Daniel and Etta Marie Amsden , and 11 brothers and sisters.

The great joy of Marty’s life was her family. She and Bud raised three boys and she was exceptionally close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews who considered her to be their second mother or older sister. She was the rock of her family, known for speaking her mind with love and grace.

She is survived by two sons, Craig (D’Aun) Phillips of Concord, NC and Daniel (Rebekah) Phillips of Mount Holly, NC; six grandchildren, Andrea (Robert) Milstead of China Grove, NC, Amy Phillips and Ashley (Vikter) Busch both of Concord,NC, Anthony Taylor of Greensboro, NC, Tiffany Phillips of Elkhart, IN and Andrew Phillips of Mount Holly, NC. She was also survived by 12 great-grand children and two sisters, Helen (Ben) Games of Tampa, Fl and Karletta (Bill) Skaggs of Goshen, IN.

Her ashes will be laid with her Husband and Son at a later date in Goshen, IN.
