Marvin Leon Manuel, 87, passed away on November 4, 2025, in Salisbury, NC. He was born on August 18, 1938, in Thomasville, NC, to the late Roy and Erma Manuel.
Marvin was a graduate of Thomasville High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from High Point College. He continued his Master’s work at East Tennessee and Appalachian State University.
Marvin began his career as a social worker and later served for many years with the NC Dept. of Health and Human Services, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, where he worked as a counselor and later as Unit Manager for the Lexington area. Following his retirement, he continued working as a counselor at the Workshop of Davidson, Inc.
A lifelong learner and Freemason, Marvin was proficient in sign language and a voracious reader; he was even known to read while driving. He was well known in the antique community, enjoyed a good auction, and the thrill of the hunt.
He is survived by his sons, Shane Manuel (Debbie) of Salisbury, NC; Judd Manuel (Christa) of Bettles, Alaska; and Michael Manuel of Salisbury, NC; his daughter, Heather Manuel Drake (Tracy) of Charlotte, NC; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, from 2 to 4pm, at Celebrations at Brook’s Nest, 215 W. US Hwy 64, Lexington, NC 27295.

I hate to hear of Marvins passing. We had many fun times talking antiques and competing at auctions. I miss him but I think he lived in the best of times. Prayers for the family, Bob Pearl
