Mildred Ann ‘Bea’ Flisher, 84, of Charlotte passed away on November 26, 2014 at Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. Mrs. Flisher was born on April 21, 1930 in Portsmouth, NH to the late John Rooney and Agnes McCartan Rooney.
Bea spent much of her early life in the Portsmouth area, afterwards moving with her Navy family to Groton, CT, Rota, Spain, Indian Harbour Beach, FL and lastly Charlotte, NC. She worked in Civil Service for the United States Government for most of her life. In her retirement Bea spent her time volunteering in and around the Melbourne, FL area at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Meals On Wheels and Daily Bread.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Flisher; one daughter, Margaret Carrigan; five sisters, Hilda Rooney, Agnes Mae Rooney, Eileen Teresa Rooney, Veronica Jane Rooney, and Bette Rooney; and four brothers, John Rooney Jr., Gerald Francis Rooney, Patrick Rooney, and Hugh James Rooney.
She is survived by four sons, George Stewart of Mt. Vernon, MO, James Stewart of Palm Bay, FL, Mark Caise of Gales Ferry, CT, and John Flisher of Mooresville, NC; one daughter, Davida Varney of Somersworth, NH; fourteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The Flisher family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the assisted living and rehabilitation facilities that helped make her final years productive, safe, healthy and happy. These include The Fountains of Melbourne, HomeAide of Brevard, Gentiva Rehabilitation Services, Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, Life Care Center of Melbourne, Life Care Center of Palm Bay, and The Haven in Highland Creek.
