Nancy Ann Brychta Pape, 79, of Kure Beach, NC passed away on Monday May 2, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center – Northeast in Concord, NC. Nancy was born on October 25, 1936 in Cicero, Illinois to the late Otto Brychta and Anna Koutney Brychta.
Nancy worked as a bookkeeper for various companies throughout her working career. She was a good mother and devoted wife who always placed her family first. Growing up, the family never doubted her love even when she lost the love of her life, her husband, Bernie. While she never fully got over that loss, she did find peace and happiness with her friends at Kure Beach. Being at the beach brought her the most happiness since the passing of her husband. She loved her grandchildren and was very proud of what each of them has accomplished in their lives. If only they could have seen, through her eyes, how she adored each of them. She also loved her pets and grandpets and got significant comfort and joy from being with them.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Bernard Joseph Pape, and two brothers, Otto and Robert.
She is survived by her two sons, Fred Pape of Carolina Beach, and Greg Pape and wife Suzann of Concord; her sister, Marcella Tomek of Greensboro; grandchildren, Chris Pape of Raleigh, Stephen Pape and wife Puja of Gainesville, FL, and Elizabeth Martucci and husband Chris of Nashville, TN; and her beloved grandpets, Buster, Cricket, Lucy, Penny, Olive, Bud, Bruce, Oliver, Odie, and Oscar.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Carolina Cremation of Salisbury and Charlotte is serving the Pape family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.

I will miss my Auntie Nancy more than words can say. She always had a smile on her face and loved everyone, including furry friends. I am blessed to have her as my only aunt. She is now at peace and reunited with Uncle Bern. I am forever thankful for being her niece. Pamela

I wish I could hug you one more time, my dear Auntie Nancy. And visit for hours, as we never had a loss of words. But what I will miss most about you is your contagious laugh, warm spirit towards everyone, deep love for family/friends/pets, and being an integral part of my entire life. Rest in peace, sweet soul, and know that you had such a positive effect on others. As Howard called you “Annie Nancy,” you will forever hold a special place in our hearts and memories. Love, Karrie

So blessed to have childhood and adult memories of a wonderful Aunt who always made everyone feel welcome. Everyone has a gift and hers was the gift of hospitality; she welcomed all into her home and made each person feel special and loved. A wonderful gift to have a blessing to others.
