Nelda Faye Beard, 66, of Denton passed away on Tuesday May 3, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Ms. Beard was born on July 09, 1949 in Texas to the late Samuel S. Whitmire and Lucy Whitmire.

Nelda was of the Methodist faith and worked as a home healthcare nurse. She loved to work in her garden and she certainly had a green thumb because she could grow any type of flowers. Nelda was always working with crafts and collected anything that had to do with bears, frogs, and windchimes. She loved baking and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, David Whitmire.

She is survived by a son, Derek Beard and wife Melissa of Denton; a daughter, Petrina Beard of Arizona; two brothers, Sam Whitmire of Rockport, TX, and John Whitmire of Midway, TX; a sister, Josalyn Broyles of Nederland, TX; six grandchildren, J.C. Campbell, Dylan Campbell, Zion Ford, Brandon Graham, Brianna Beard, and Autumn Beard; one great grandchild; seven nieces and nephews, and twelve great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held this Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Beard home.
