Nita Faye Lykins went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday January 30, 2025. She was surrounded by family as she left this broken body behind and is now surrounded by her heavenly family as she steps into a perfect glorified body worshipping her God and King.
She was born on August 30, 1957, to Melvin and Ruth Brown in Louisville, Kentucky. She met her husband Mark “Steve” Lykins in high school in the small town where they lived in Valley Station, Kentucky. They started their life together in that same town but shortly after moved to Atlanta to finish college and begin their professional lives serving in many capacities at Christian Schools.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Steve, and their four sons; Bryan Lykins of Key Largo, FL; Allen Lykins and wife Amber of Salisbury, NC; Mark Lykins and wife Stephanie of Kannapolis, NC; and Scott Lykins and wife Megan of Leland, NC. She is forever loved and remembered as ‘Mamie’ by her grandchildren; Ethan, Aaron, Macie, Maddox, Cruze, Tripp, Aiden, Maggie, and Ada. Nita will also have the joy of holding her heavenly granddaughter Tinley once again.
It’s hard to comprehend the massive long lasting impact Nita and Steve had on so many people’s lives in the many places the Lord led them to serve. They loved every moment of their years working with schools and students around the country. She will be missed but never forgotten as her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren.
A memorial service for Nita Lykins will be held on February 8, 2025 at West Cabarrus Church 7655 Bruton Smith Blvd Concord NC 28027. The family will be accepting visitors at 2:00pm, followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm.
The Lykins were instrumental in helping plant Mission Bible Church – a new church in the University City region of Charlotte, NC. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations can be made in the form of contributions to Mission Bible Church online at MissionBibleChurch.org/give or by mail to PO Box 621738, Charlotte NC 28262.
