Norma Kathryn “Kitty” Wagoner Moose of Salisbury, formerly of Rockwell died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 9, 2017 after 30 years of battling serious diseases. Norma was born June 2, 1924 to the late Maude Irene Goodman Wagoner and Norman Brown Wagoner. She received her education from Rowan County Public Schools and Rowan Community College. She worked in retail for Jewel Tea Co. and Belk Department Stores; retiring from Belk in 1986.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 66 years and the love of her life, James Gilbert Moose, whom died June 22, 2008 as a decorated veteran of the United States Army.
Norma was affectionately known as “Kitty” and was called “pumpkin” by the love of her life, James. Kitty was a loving wife, mother, and sister and especially loved her four granddaughters and two great-grandsons. She loved spending time with her family at the coast, and when she was able, she loved flower gardening. She often grew rows and rows of gladiolus both to use in arrangements and to give away. She was gifted in flower design, and had a keen eye for fashion, and a knack for collecting shoes. Kitty served her country as a dedicated Army wife from 1941-1945 as her husband James fought in World War II.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Darryl Moose and his wife Diane of Clayton, NC; her daughter, Jamie Moose Kimmer and her husband Cliff of Salisbury, NC; her granddaughters Sharon K. Spry (Michael) of Rockwell, NC and Stephanie M. Hurst (Taylor), Jordan M. Booth (Anthony), and Catherine J. Moose of Clayton, NC; great grandsons, Alex and Connor Hurst; sisters, Jeannie Morales of Rockwell, NC and Bernice Jones of Salisbury, NC; special friend, Patricia Walters; and many nieces and nephews.
Kitty was a life time member of Rockwell United Methodist Church, and she also attended church at Milford Hills United Methodist Church with her daughter, Jamie since residing in Salisbury.
A grave side service will be held on Friday April 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Old Salisbury National Cemetery (202 Government Rd., Salisbury, NC 28144) conducted by, Rev. Charlie Curtis of Rockwell UMC and Kitty’s nephew, Randy Jones. Following the service, Kitty will be buried alongside her husband, James in the National Cemetery of Salisbury, NC. The family request that donations be made to Rockwell United Methodist Church, Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, or to the donors’ choice.
