Paul Burris Coan, 89, of Salisbury, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday April 8, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family. Mr. Coan was born on April 7, 1927 in Union County, NC to the late Thomas Guy and Estelline Coan. Mr. Coan proudly served his country during WW II in the US Navy.
An avid horseman, he lived much of his life in Landis, where he also founded Coan Equipment Co. in 1973. Mr. Coan was a member of Grace Bible Church in Rockwell.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Coan is preceded in death by his first wife Betty Roberts Coan and one brother, James Coan of Columbus, OH; three sisters, Ruth Nash, Patty Lee Overcash and Carol Oliver.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Pug) Kepley Coan of Salisbury; a daughter, Cynthia Coan Young and husband Thomas; a son, Phillip Coan and wife Susan of Concord; six grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; Stepsons, Reggie Wike and wife Diane, Darren Wike and wife Linda; Step daughters, Susan Medley, Leslie Holmes and husband Jimmy; 10 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 6:00 PM. at Grace Bible Church (6725 NC-152, Rockwell, NC 28138). The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church or to Gideon’s International.
