Phyllis A. Chitwood, 59, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully at home and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born on June 28, 1959 in Martinsville, VA, she was the daughter of James E. Adams and Shelby M. Adams.
Phyllis was a dedicated and successful woman with an exceptionally sharp business acumen and strong work ethic. She passionately served the community as a Certified Public Accountant for 35 years, and together with her business partner, Janine Skidmore, she fulfilled her dream with the successful establishment of their own accounting firm, Chitwood & Skidmore CPA.
Her faith was strong and it was always an important aspect of her life. As a dedicated volunteer and leader at Elevation Church University City, she actively served on the Elevation UC Data Team and she was a proud member of the Sisters of Strength. She made a lasting impact on so many people through her testimony and the love and joy she carried with her everywhere she went.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Laura E. Chitwood; sister, Brenda A. McBride; brother, James T. Adams and wife, Kitty W. Adams; nephews and nieces, Heather R. Adams, Casey L. McBride, Jessica M. Adams, Daniel R. McBride, Crystal N. McBride; and step-son, Scott Chitwood.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Elevation Church University City (8105 IBM Drive, Charlotte, NC). The service will be officiated by Pastors Larry Brey, Chetwyn Pete, and Matt Hines.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elevation Church. Any flowers will be donated to Charlotte area Children’s Hospitals.

I know that the members of her family can take heart in knowing that through her strong faith she is now in her heavenly home. My heart reaches out to each of you and know there will be times that many good memories will warm your heart and again remind you, she is free of pain and her life is now full of glory forever more.
I am going to miss this wonderful friend. She was beautiful inside and out. We shared so many good times. Her faith was inspiration to me.

I had know Phyllis for such a short time, but she made me feel like I had known her forever. I am sending love and the light of our creator to her loved ones as this loss runs deep. Her love was so pure. She touched the lives of many. Her energy is now released and she is a part of all of us.
