Ray L. DeBoe, 88, of Concord, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC.

He was born August 31, 1932 in Concord, NC to the late Roy DeBoe and Lena Cress DeBoe. Ray proudly served in the United States Navy and attended Concord High School before graduating from Burton Institute and Evans College. He worked in textiles and in his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors. His hobbies included fishing, camping, swimming and cheering on his favorite team, the Atlanta Braves. He had a passion for coaching baseball and loved being able to help teach about the game. Ray was a member of Charity Baptist Church, where he spent his time volunteering with the food pantry and serving as a Deacon. Ray also served as an RA (Royal Ambassadors) Leader and taught Sunday school at Kerr St. Baptist Church in Concord.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

Ray is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris DeBoe; daughter, Terri Shaffer of Kannapolis; son, Dale DeBoe (Diane) of Salisbury; 6 grandchildren, Alisha Miller and husband, Joey; Rodger DeBoe Jr. and fiancé, Jordan; Nathan DeBoe and wife, Jessica; Randall Shaffer; Krista Vick; Jamie Lovingood and husband, Justin; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Charity Baptist Church, 2420 Brantley Rd. #6402 Kannapolis, NC 28083, from 12-2pm, with a Celebration of Life starting at 2pm. Ray’s final resting place will be at the Salisbury National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charity Baptist Church Building Fund.
