Robert “Bob” Arthur Murphy, 58, of Kannapolis, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 23, 1959 in Wheeling, WV to Joseph Cyrus and Carol Bosley Murphy. Bob proudly served in the United States Army and Navy and worked as a Lab Tech for CHS – Northeast.
Bob was a member of the VFW and Jackson Park United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed anything to do with water, especially scuba diving and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking, shooting guns, wood burning and was a skilled artist and photographer. Most people knew him as a prankster and he loved making people laugh.
Bob is survived by his wife of 8 years, Denise Murphy; daughter, Kira Murphy of Charlotte; step-daughters, Katie Bishop of Kannapolis; Brittany Furr of Charlotte; step-son, Seth Esqure of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Malia Ingram and Anastasia Bishop; ex-wife and great friend, Cindy Mason of Charlotte; brothers, Greg and Mike Murphy; sister, Cheri Svitak; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Beth Thompson.
There will be a memorial service with military honors held at 2pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Salisbury National Cemetery.

November 18th was such a sad day. You were a good big brother. Greg and Mike and I will truly Miss you. We promised you when we talked to you last that we will be here for Kira Ann. She misses her Daddy so much. You lived a good life almost to the end. I know you are with Beth and no longer suffering like you did on earth. We all Love you and Miss you! Cheri~Dan
