Robert “Bob” Grill passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019, in Concord, North Carolina following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on June 26, 1953 to Alfred and Eleanor Grill (née Williams) of Meadville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Meadville High School in 1971. Bob pursued a career in Law Enforcement, followed by a career in the private sector as the Director of Security at National Fuel Gas. He retired in 2016 after over 30 years of service with National Fuel. Bob married Denice (Dee Dee) Cordas at St. Peter’s Cathedral and they enjoyed 35 loving years of marriage. Bob and Dee Dee had two sons, Kyle and Aaron.
He is survived by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, Deborah and Alyssa; granddaughter, Madelyn and grandson, Lincoln (both of whom lovingly referred to him as “Bobo”); brother, Terry and wife, Peggy Grill of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Sharyn and husband, Jack Hanaway of Lady Lakes, Florida; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Bob enjoyed taking his young family on camping trips, which was an interest he pursued into his retirement when he enjoyed traveling in his RV with Dee Dee. He also enjoyed golfing, racquetball, dirty martinis, a good cigar and any time spent with family and friends. Bob and Dee Dee wintered on Seabrook Island, South Carolina, during their shared retirement years & loved walking Dee Dee’s dogs on the beach watching the beautiful sunsets.
A memorial service will be held at St. Julia’s Catholic Church, 638 Roslyn Ave, Erie, Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 12:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob’s honor to Hospice Care Services.
Carolina Cremation is assisting the Grill family. Online condolences may be made at www.carolinacremation.com.

My dear brother-in-law, thank you for loving my sister and being a great husband to her and father to my nephews. Thank you for putting me up over the years when I was working in the area. You and Dee Dee’s hospitality was/is greatly appreciated. Before you guys got married I remember driving you both around LA for the first time and how much you marveled at the city. Now I marvel at what a great family member you were and will miss your laugh and the fun we had when you two came to the boat. We raise a boat drink to you and your life! Rest in Peace with our Lord- you are missed!

I will always remember you, Bob, as a man of honor. Your presence was uplifting when you entered a room. Your smile, your laugh, your love and pride for your family cannot ever be beaten. You’ve left a legacy behind and ohh! Is your family proud of you! Till we meet again… ❤️
Karen and Aaron Doehrel says
Bob brought love and laughter to our family. We were truly blessed to really like, no love, Bob and DeeDee from the moment we met them. It is rare to have the friendship click as in-laws and this enabled us to enjoy holidays and all family events together – and so much more. Every memory of spending time with Bob and DeeDee, whether in the Finger Lakes, Geneva Wineries, Seabrook, enjoying dinners together, Erie concerts or festivals is filled with laughter that now turns to tears as we realize how much we will miss our dear friend. God has taken home another angel. Bob may be gone from this earthly home but never from our hearts. We miss and love you Bob-o and will pray for peace for the family.

Dee Dee and family. I was sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. He was a great guy. He was one of the first guys I can remember when I first started at the Court House. That was 42 years ago. He was always kind, respectful and had a little glimmer in his eyes when he smiled. You had a good one DeeDee! May he rest in peace.

Our deepest sympathy to Bob’s wife and sons as well as to Terry and Sharyn. My memories are of him in his earlier years while my brother Chris (retired Erie Police Department) knew him as a second generation law enforcement professional. The apple doesn’t fall fall from the tree.

Quick with the wit and even faster with good natured sarcasm – that’s the Bob I won’t forget. As a west coast brother-in-law, the limited family visits and vacations we spent together were always more enjoyable because I knew… Bob would be there. My deepest sympathy to Denice, Kyle, Aaron and the entire Grill and Cordas families on the tremendous loss of a damn good man!

My heart breaks for all of you, I’m so sorry and wish this wasn’t reality. Uncle Bob was always so good to me and my family. He was direct and honest, with a big heart, and a great sense of humor. I’ll miss his voice. I’ll miss his welcoming hugs whenever I saw him. He was good to my aunt Dee Dee, and a stand up dad too. Aaron and Kyle, you’re both good men, just like him. Aunt Dee Dee, we’re all here for you, and will do our best to have you enjoy the rest of your life as Uncle Bob would want you to. All my love xoxo

We were deeply saddened when we learned of Bob’s passing. DeeDee, please accept our condolences and know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I was privileged to start my career at the prison with Bob in the ’70’s and always admired his dedication and leadership abilities. Most importantly, he was a extremely caring person who always was willing to help others and, often times, went out of his way to do so. Rest in peace Bob.

I am forever thankful for the happy memories of visiting Uncle Bob, Aunt Dee Dee, Kyle, and Aaron in Erie PA when I was a kid. Swimming pools, playing in the backyard, Molly and Ruby, video games, bbqs, movies. Their home was always full of joy and love and I am grateful to call them my family.
I am sorry not to have spent more time time with you all recently, but I hold you in my heart very dearly. I am heartbroken for your loss and I love you so much. Here’s to an awesome guy, Uncle Bob Grill xoxoxoxox
