Robert Clinton Lesley Jr., 84, Salisbury, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Novant Rowan Medical Center. Robert was born on March 30, 1931 in Rowan County to the late Robert Clinton Lesley Sr. and Margaret Russell Lesley.
Robert attended Granite Quarry High School and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rockwell and previous member of Southside Baptist Church of Salisbury.
He was a past member of the Spencer Moose Lodge and a member of the National Guard for sixteen years. He worked as a supervisor for Cannon Mills in plants #7 and #16. He enjoyed fishing, collecting antique glass, and listening to gospel music.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Louise Morgan Lesley; a sister, Ruby Shores; and granddaughter, Amanda Lesley.
Survivors include his sons, Melvin Lesley of Gold Hill, Kenneth Lesley (Karen) of Gold Hill, and James Lesley of Salisbury; grandchildren, Brian Lesley (Melissa) of Raleigh, Abby Swanson (Rick) of Denver, Jeffrey Lesley (Tiffany) of Carolina Beach, Douglas Lesley (Adrianne) of Salisbury, and Clinton Lesley of Salisbury; four great grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn Evans of Salisbury, and Shirley Fisher (David) of Albemarle.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM on Tuesday June 2, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rockwell. There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday June 2, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Bruce Sheeks.
