Robert Gene “Bobby” Marsh, 74 of Spencer passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Novant Rowan Medical Center. Bobby was born on March 3, 1940 in Surry County, son of the late General Woodrow and Margaret Irene Ashe Marsh.
Bobby was educated in the Rowan County School System. He was owner and operator of Petroleum Insulators in New Orleans. Bobby was a member of Spencer Masonic Lodge 543, and the Spencer Moose Lodge. He enjoyed collecting old cars, playing cards, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents Bobby is preceded in death by a son, Randy Marsh, and a niece Patrica Young.
Bobby is survived by sons, Eric Marsh and wife Liz of Bangor, ME, and Bradley Martin and wife Chantel of New Orleans; daughter, Tammy Marsh of Spencer. 8 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, 5 Step Children, and 10 Step Grandchildren. Sisters, Rixie Vanderberry and husband Robert of Raleigh, Brenda Broughton and husband Kenneth of Kernersville, Helen Marsh of Advance, and Gail Beasley and husband Roger of Salisbury. Bobby is also survived by 1 niece and 3 nephews, and a special friend Randy Allen.
There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the family’s church, Trading Ford Baptist Church at 1:00 PM, conducted by Rev. Mike Motley.
The family will receive friends at Trading Ford Baptist Church following the Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford 600 College Street, Oxford NC 27565.

Bob (that is how we knew him) was a very dear friend in New Orleans some 40 years ago. Bob was Best Man at our wedding and we were best buddies for three years along with Captain Frank. (I) can honestly say that was the best time of my life. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob’s family.

We just recently learned about Mr Bobby passing. We would like to send our condolences out to the family. Mr . Bobby was our landlord in fact he was the best landlord we ever had. He we truly be missed. It will definitely not feel the same be able to to see him coming to visit pulling up riding us around on his golf cart. Rip Mr Bobby.
