“Faith, Family, And Friends”
Robert L. Haskins Jr., 63, peacefully passed away on July 11, 2026. A U.S. Army veteran, retired law enforcement officer, and faithful servant of God, Rob has accepted his final deployment into “God’s Army”
Born May 8, 1963, to Virginia Haskins-DeVane and Robert L. Haskins Sr., and beloved stepson to John E. DeVane Jr. He was a natural protector to his family and everyone he loved.
A graduate of St. Benedict’s Preparatory School of Newark New Jersey and Clark University, Ma., Rob proudly served four years in the U.S. Army, deploying across the U.S. and abroad. He then dedicated 15 years as a Correctional Officer at Northern State Prison in Newark New Jersey, passionately mentoring young men toward a brighter path.
Rob lived tenaciously and danced to his own beat. He always embraced life whether showing off his legendary two step, riding his motorcycle throughout the east coast, or mastering the Spanish language during his final great adventure living in the Dominican Republic.
He leaves behind a legacy of strength carried on by his loving mother, Virginia; his siblings, Gail (Kenneth Smith), Yvette (Joseph Bridges), Yolanda, Victoria, and John his beloved children, Mylissa Mcleod and John Haskins; grandchildren Ayden, Braylen, Caleb, and Daneille, nieces Jasmine and Ashley, two grandnephews Cameron and Darius, and a host of family and friends.
Having completed his earthly duties, Robert has received God’s ultimate blessing: “His lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord” (Matthew 25:21)
